We would have no sense of self. That’s why I entitled my quote “Love solipsism”, because by recognising ourselves in others (even if this condition is not absolute or contingent) we can confirm our own existence through the most powerful, unexplainable, revealing, overwhelming and deep experience.

Those who can’t abandon themselves to that miraculous experience… well, are those lives even worth living?
