In Another Life

In another life
In a different country
In a bigger city
or inside a cabin
lost in the woods
I would still do the same things
Wasting time in the same ways
Being loved or ignored
by the same kind of people
So why leave
when I can’t escape myself
and the river always runs
downhill.

It’s getting hard
to sleep at night
Body aches
from the cold
Another year is buried
in the snow.
