Fools Gold

Out of the blue
one day you appeared
Without a word
the sparkle in your eyes
made me dig
for fools gold
How could I know
one night you would leave
like a thief
stealing my hopes.
This poem is inspired by an episode from Anne with an E Netflix series which gives a very insightful depiction of a con artist modus operandi.
The series are an adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s 1908 book, Anne of Green Gables. I highly recommend both the book and the series.
